Autograph of legendary Toronto Maple Leafs Forward Joe Primeau (signed in 1937), and NHL referee Ag Smith (signed in 1936)
Carefully removed from an autograph album where it was signed during the late 1930s
Primeau scored
66 goals, 243 points in 310 NHL games across nine NHL seasons, all with the Maple Leafs
A three-time NHL assists leader, Primeau famously played on the Kid Line with fellow Maple Leafs stars Charlie Conacher and Busher Jackson
Won the Stanley Cup as head coach in 1950-51, his first season coaching the Maple Leafs, and the only coach to lead teams to the Memorial Cup, Allan Cup, and Stanley Cup
A 1932 Lady Byng award winner as the NHL's most gentlemanly player, and 1934 Second-Team NHL All-Star, Primeau was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1963, and passed away in 1989 at the age of 83
Also signed by NHL referee Ag Smith during the same season he officiated the famous six overtime game between the Detroit Red Wings and Montreal Maroons, still the longest game in NHL history
Autographs are in excellent shape with no smudging or bleeding. Page is in great condition with some light surface creasing but was removed carefully from the original album book with no rips or tears. Some very light staining along right edge

The signatures in this listing came from an autograph book owned by Donald Deas. He took this book to many NHL games and secured numerous signatures of NHL players. Most of the autographs in the book were secured during the 1936/1937 NHL season with a few others collected into the early 1940s. The ability to collect the signatures was facilitated by a friendship Mr. Deas had with Maple Leaf Gardens official scorer Bill Graham Jr. The autograph book had been stored away by the family over the last 80 years.
